The 2nd International Symposium of China-Spain Young Scientists
On December 16, 2025, the 2nd International Symposium of China-Spain Young Scientists, organized by the Associate of China-Spain Science and Technology (ACSST), was successfully held at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Spain. The symposium was hosted by UFV and received strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Spain. It brought together over 70 young scholars from various universities and research institutions in both China and Spain, with additional participation from ACSST's youth members.
The symposium was chaired by Dr. Yin Guangzhong, a council member of ACSST. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Prof. Alberto López Rosado, Vice-Rector of UFV; Ms. Le Jia, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain; Prof. Wang Deyi, President of ACSST and Academician of the European Academy of Sciences; Mr. Nan Jun, President of the Chinese Association in Spain; and Prof. Jordi Viñolas Prat from the Polytechnic School of UFV. On behalf of ACSST, President Prof. Wang Deyi extended a warm welcome to all attendees and expressed sincere gratitude to UFV and the Chinese Embassy for their substantial support. Prof. Alberto López Rosado emphasized UFV's high regard for China-Spain cooperation in science, technology, and education, expressing hope that the symposium would foster long-term collaboration in cutting-edge technological fields. Counselor Le Jia, representing the Chinese Embassy, praised the positive progress in sci-tech innovation, educational cooperation, and talent cultivation between the two countries. She highlighted the crucial role of young scholars in bilateral sci-tech collaboration and affirmed the Embassy's continued support for such exchanges and talent partnerships. All guests fully acknowledged ACSST's active role in uniting Chinese sci-tech talents in Spain, building platforms for exchange and cooperation, and facilitating the alignment of research resources. They also expressed anticipation for the association's ongoing efforts to organize high-level academic activities.
During the symposium, ACSST President Prof. Wang Deyi delivered a keynote report titled "Pathways to Career and Research Excellence for Early-Career Scientists." Drawing from his extensive experience in academia and research institutions, Prof. Wang systematically shared insights on common pitfalls for young scholars, the "Golden Triangle" principle for research development, and a three-stage career progression path from "Starting Out" to "Consolidation" and "Innovation & Leadership." His report provided an inspiring and clear roadmap for early-career researchers.
Centered on the theme "Advanced Materials and Sustainability," the symposium aligned with current scientific hotspots and the respective strengths of both countries. It featured three specialized sessions focusing on frontier areas such as Renewable Energy, Multifunctional Materials & Advanced Manufacturing, and Health & Digital Technology. The program included one plenary keynote report and 20 invited presentations, collectively showcasing the latest research achievements of young scholars from both nations and fully reflecting the depth and breadth of China-Spain sci-tech cooperation. Through these presentations and in-depth discussions, the participating young scholars not only shared their research progress but also gained new inspirations and identified potential collaboration opportunities from interdisciplinary perspectives, creating a vibrant and productive academic atmosphere.
The symposium served as a valuable platform for exchange between young Chinese and Spanish scholars. It not only deepened academic dialogue and fostered friendship but also laid a solid foundation for future joint efforts in advancing scientific innovation and sustainable development. ACSST remains committed to building high-level international cooperation platforms, gathering the strength of young researchers, and propelling China-Spain sci-tech innovation and sustainable development to new heights.
